The UK FM market is massive, with the sector employing circa around 10% of the UK’s workforce. The current value of FM services procured annually in the UK stands at £112bn. This splits down into £65bn spent by the public sector, and £47bn private sector spend. Of course, there are the big players, but the vast majority of this spend is split out among a large number of SMEs.
The UK Government represents circa 20% (£13bn) of the UK’s total FM annual market spend. Other major public sector buyers of FM services are Local Government, Health and Education. A considerable further FM spend is spread across other public sector organisations, including the emergency services, culture and sports and the justice sector.

Focusing on technical capabilities of their team and/or the systems that they use (e.g. CAFM systems) without clearly making the connection to the benefits these will bring to the buyer.
